 Jiangmen Customs is a historic customs. As early as in 1685, Guangdong Customs set up tax office in Jiangmen, Jiangmen was open as treaty port in 1902 and Jiangmen Customs was open publicly in 1904. After a hundred years and due to the joint efforts of generations of customs people, Jiangmen Customs has become a bureau-level office with more than 1300 workers. From the prospect of future development, we should know ourselves well, set up goals and put the development of Jiangmen Customs into the whole development of national customs with a broad mind and modesty. Only in this way can we stand on a high point, plan and manage the development of Jiangmen Customs.
Jiangmen Customs locates in the middle west of Guangdong Province covering Jiangmen and Yangjiang two Prefecture-level cities . It is next to the South China Sea, Hong Kong and Macao. There are waterways everywhere within this region and the water and land transportation is convenient. Here is an important passageway connecting Hong Kong, Macao, Zhujiang Triangle, west Guangdong Province and southeast region. There are altogether 3.76 million overseas Chinese and compatriots from HongKong, Macao and Taiwan in Jiangmen, counting 10 percent of the nation’s overseas Chinese. In this way, it is called the first hometown of overseas Chinese in China. Here is fundamental overseas Chinese culture and the first place where the western and eastern culture melt together. The focus of customs work shall be put on the development of local economy according to the local economy strategy. And only by connecting development of customs
and local economy, can we build a harmonious customs. The two cities within this customs expand largely from east to west and the economy level can be divided into three stages, i.e. Zhujiang Triangle city groups, east and west wing of Guangdong Province, and the mountainous region. In foreign trade, about nine tenths of the goods are shipped through other customs by small ships and through Tran-customs transportation. Based on this condition, we connect the reality of Jiangmen Customs to the planning and arrangements of the leading party group of the General Customs Administration and the overall work of supporting and serving the economic development of Zhujaing area, set up realistic goals, take active actions, pursuing actual effect and carry out the innovation well.
The key point ensuring the harmonious development of Jiangmen Customs lies in people. The cadre ranks of Jaingmen Customs is a young one. The average age of the staff is 37.8 and most of them are under 45. After the institution was upgraded, the construction of the staff becomes more important. Therefore, we start from the education of the leaders, spread post training, enhance the scientific management of the customs, promote the administrative ability of the leaders and working skills of officers. Meanwhile, we should show human care and psychological guidance to make sure that the workers fix their minds on the career, work on the harmonious development of the customs, create a mutual-believe and harmonious atmosphere and a state of ambition and joint efforts. | |
